The Conduct Of True Sons

One of the greatest tragedies in this generation is that many have mastered the language of sonship without possessing the spirit of sons.

They know how to celebrate men publicly. They know how to defend personalities on social media. Yet, when weighed in the balances of Scripture, they are not sons; they are merely admirers.

The Kingdom does not recognise sons by their vocabulary. The Kingdom recognises sons by their formation. A true son is first conquered by God before He can be committed to a man.

This is where many have missed it. True sonship is not human worship. True sonship is not idolizing a vessel. True sonship is not replacing Christ with a spiritual father because a father is not the destination; he is a divine instrument pointing men to Christ.

The moment a relationship with a spiritual father begins to diminish your obedience to Scripture, your intimacy with Christ, or your submission to the Holy Spirit, that relationship has left the boundaries of biblical sonship.

I need you to know that the assignment of fathers is not to gather men around themselves, but to present mature sons unto Christ.

Therefore, sons do not compete for attention. Sons do not fight to be seen. Sons are not driven by proximity. Sons are driven by impartation, transformation, and conformity to Christ.

A genuine son understands that honour is not an emotional attachment. Honour is the appropriate response to God’s divine order.

A true son does not honor his father because he has been manipulated. He honours his father because he has seen the grace of God upon him as a man.

A true son is correctable. Correction does not produce rebellion in him. Rather, correction exposes whether he is a son or merely a fan, because fans celebrate you until you offend them. Sons remain submitted because they understand that pruning is part of their formation.

A son is loyal, but his loyalty is guided by Scripture. His highest loyalty is to Christ. His final authority is the Word of God. If his father demands what Scripture forbids, the son chooses Christ without hesitation. That is not rebellion. That is true sonship.

The healthiest sons are those who know the difference between honour and human worship. They can celebrate a vessel without enthroning him. They can honour a vessel without worshipping him.

For in the Kingdom, worship belongs to God alone. Honour belongs to whom honour is due. Submission belongs within the boundaries of Scripture.

And sonship exists to produce men who look increasingly like Christ, not increasingly dependent upon men.

May God raise sons who cannot be bribed by access, intoxicated by proximity, corrupted by favouritism, or distracted by personalities.

May He raise sons whose greatest testimony is not, “I know a great man,” but, “I have become like Christ.”

For the highest proof of sonship is not that you resemble your father in mannerisms. It is that, through faithful fathering, you increasingly resemble the Son of God.
