Tinubu’s Performance Poor, He Shouldn’t Run In 2027 – Oritsejafor

Former CAN Chairman, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor

Former CAN Chairman, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s administration over Nigeria’s current condition, which he calls disturbing.

Oritsejafor, also a former PFN President, said the country’s situation now demands a completely new approach to get it back on track.

The respected cleric spoke during an interview with Seun Okinbaloye on Channels Television’s flagship show, Politics Today.

He faulted leaders who tell citizens to endure hardship while living lavishly themselves. He pointed to lawmakers earning huge salaries and allowances amid widespread poverty.

On Tinubu’s performance, he stated: “The government of Tinubu has inflicted more damage on the country than any other before it.” He, however, said he won’t call for his resignation as some are doing, but urged him not to seek re-election in 2027.

“I don’t believe Tinubu can perform better in a second term than he has so far,” he added. Oritsejafor noted that if Tinubu still chooses to run, only God will decide the result. “I believe God has the final word. We can make our plans but God will do what He decides,” he said.

Asked what he’d tell the President directly, he replied: “I would tell the President that you have not done well. I would advise him to step aside and make room for someone with capacity to contest.”

Earlier, Oritsejafor was asked why many vocal church leaders have stayed quiet amid Nigerians’ suffering. The senior pastor of Word of Life Bible Church in Warri, Delta State, rejected claims of fear. “No, I am speaking now,” he said.

He also spoke on divisions among church leaders, saying “I have begun talking to some of them and hopefully, hopefully we will unite and speak truth to power.”
