Against all odds, the incumbent Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has been re-elected for another four-year term after emerging winner in the state governorship poll held across the state on Saturday, August 15, 2026.

Adeleke, Accord party candidate in the election, polled a total of 511,067 votes and won in 19 councils, to defeat his closest rival Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Candidate (APC) who polled 444,815 votes and won 11 councils to emerge second in the race.

About eight hours after voting in the election ended, Adeleke was shown to be leading the 14 other candidates in the contest by 52.75%, with the APC candidate recording 44.36% win, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Salaam Najeem, trailed in a distant third. The results showed that he scored a total of 17,180 votes.

The results were collated from the polling units across Osun State’s 30 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and uploaded on the INEC Result Viewing (IReV) portal real time. This was before their final collation and announcement by the INEC returning officer, Prof. Joshua Ogunwole, at the commission’s Collation Centre in Osogbo, the state capital.
