Cobhams Asuquo’s Life Of Gratitude

Life is filled with so many challenges and setbacks that make many question the existence and power of God.

For artiste, Cobhams Asuquo, it would be very easy to fall into this category being blind in both eyes. But he has chosen to see the good in life and find reasons to be grateful to God.

The award-winning music producer has chosen to dedicate this fourteen track album to worshipping God. From the first to the last track, he talks about the journey of his relationship with God, the greatness of God and his thoughts and concern for the Church.

In track 11 titled, “Ordinary People”, he sings of his desires to see ordinary people trusting God to do extra-ordinary things through them instead of trying to do things on their own. He reminds us of the scripture that “God uses the foolish things of the world to confound the wise”.

Track 6 is addresses the Church as he sings for God’s kingdom of God to come afresh. There is a subtle message that suggests that the Church has forgotten the reason of salvation and the purpose of the death of Christ on the cross and now seems to focus on material things and wanting God to provide them speedily. He remembers the times of revival when souls were saved and people delivered and God’s word spoken in truth. He challenges the Church to awaken and prepare for the coming of Christ, her bridegroom.

The track named for the album ‘For you’, simply reveals his hunger and desire for God. The simplicity of the songs strikes a chord in the heart of anybody thirsty for the living waters of God. It is reminiscent of the young shepherd boy, David who sang songs with his harp and always sought the presence of God. Four tracks are covers of other songs done beautifully.

The last track is a testament to the ministry of Angels as he speaks on them and how they’ve been a blessing to him.

The most beautiful thing perhaps about this album is the honesty and soul in the lyrics, the simple chords of keyboard, violin and drums. It may not get you on your feet to dance but the magnificence of God in the music cannot be denied and the true heart of worship will definitely be stirred.

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature...
