The United States has celebrated its 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence July 4, 2026 with nationwide celebrations. The once-in-a-generation milestone was marked with patriotic gatherings, prayer services, concerts, and fireworks held across all 50 states.
In the heart of the celebrations was Washington, D.C., where the day began with the National Independence Day Parade on Constitution Avenue, followed by faith gatherings across the city. At noon, believers filled the Basilica of the National Shrine for a special Mass for the 250th Anniversary.
In May this year, thousands joined the “Rededicate 250” National Prayer Gathering on the National Mall. At the National Archives, families viewed the original Declaration of Independence and heard dramatic readings of the founding document, a reminder of the ideals of liberty and God-given rights on which the nation was founded.
President Trump’s Address
The evening culminated on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol with A Capitol Fourth concert and a fireworks display over the National Mall and Washington Monument. President Donald Trump delivered an address celebrating the nation’s history, resilience, and future, saying “The future belongs to the brave.” He also declared that “Communism will never take root in the United States of America,” and that “religion is back in America.”
From Philadelphia’s reading of the Declaration at Independence Hall to celebrations in all 50 states, the theme was clear: gratitude for 250 years, and a call to purpose. As one Archives official noted, the anniversary invites all Americans “to reflect on 250 years of our nation’s journey toward a more perfect union”.
Kingdom Times prayer on this occasion is according Psalm 33:12 – “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.”
