Kumuyi Urges Church And Media To Partner And Refocus Nigeria

If there is any time that the media is needed for the advancement of God’s kingdom on earth that time is now.

This is the position of the founder and General Superintendent of the Deeper Life Bible Church, Pastor William Kumuyi, which he made known during a breakfast meeting with some broadcast media executives at the newly inaugurated headquarters of the church in Lagos.

Pastor Kumuyi who implored the media executives to form an engaging and result-oriented partnership with the church, said such move was required to help in driving social change and transforming the moral and spiritual fabric of the society.

“As you well know, the Great Commission is the sacred mandate by the Saviour to all believers to go into the world with the glorious gospel, which has the capacity to draw men out of the fetters of sin and darkness into God’s marvelous light.

“It is my keen understanding, therefore, that this sacred assignment fits perfectly into the primary purpose and elevated thrust of the mass media, especially in this modern world, where the information super-highway has transformed the world into an online, real time global village,” the cleric said.

He noted that the fourth estate of the realm, especially the broadcast media which possesses the strongest appeal on the minds of people, can exploit the latent blessings of the gospel of Christ to correct the anomalies in the society.

He added, “I am sure you all can read the palpable frustrations on the faces of our people. It is like many are at the end of their tether, at their very end. Yet, the solution is not far-fetched if and once the appropriate solution of God’s abiding love and wholesome transformation can be communicated to the people as deliberately and as consistently as the situation demands.”

Pastor Kumuyi did not mince words in painting the picture of Nigeria’s real situation, and by extension the world condition, and concluded that the solution lies outside man’s capability.

In his words, “Despite genuine and spirited efforts to resolve the contradictions in the society, it seems there is no ready respite. The indices that measure the quality of living are getting worse by the day. While the economy is not cheerful, the security situation is perplexing, with the moral fibre of society at its lowest ebb ever.”

He, therefore, called on men and women of goodwill, especially in the church and media, to collaborate to fundamentally realign the direction and focus of Nigeria.

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature...
