The Redeemer’s Health Village (RHV), a healthcare initiative of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has recorded a major milestone in Nigeria’s healthcare sector with the successful completion of its first robot-assisted surgery.

Announcing the breakthrough on its Facebook page, RHV said “This is a significant moment in our journey to advance healthcare in Nigeria and expand access to sophisticated surgical care closer to home.”

It gave God glory for the achievement, and also praised the leadership of RCCG, led by Pastor Enoch Adeboye and his wife, Folu, for their vision, prayers, leadership and commitment to the advancement of healthcare.

According to RHV, the operation was made possible by its partners at RoboMed Global, its surgeons, theatre team, anaesthesia team, nurses, biomedical and technical teams.

“The completion of this first robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy is a step forward in our commitment to bringing advanced surgical care to patients in Nigeria. And this is only the beginning,” RHV said.

The first robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy ever performed in Nigeria (and even West Africa) was carried out in March 2025 by Prof. Kingsley Ekwueme at The Prostate Clinic (TPC)/Nigeria Centre for Robotic and Laparoscopic Surgery in Lagos, using the da Vinci Robotic Surgical System.

Since then, other medical centres, including Kelina Hospital – and now Redeemer’s Health Village (in partnership with RoboMed Global) – and have also adopted the technology and successfully completed robotic-assisted prostate surgeries.
