It was an atmosphere of anger and deep concern as pastors and leaders of various churches under the umbrella of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) in Lagos State, took turns to lead members in intercessory prayers against insecurity on Sunday, May 24, 2026.

The event marked the end of a three-day “National Call To Prayer”, with Christians of different denominations gathered at the Global Impact Church at Gbagada, Lagos, to raise a cry in a unified voice for God’s intervention to end the shedding of innocent blood and violence against fellow citizens, especially Christians, in parts of the country.

Reading from 2 Chronicles 7:14 and other relevant parts of the Scriptures, the leaders urged the worshippers and all Christians to humble themselves, repent of their sins on behalf of the entire country and pray for peace to return to the land.

They also acknowledged that the Nigerian Church has broken God’s hedge around her, giving rise to the violence in the country, while calling on believers to return to God in humility and ask for mercy.

According to Pastor Yemi Davids, founder and lead Pastor of the Global Impact Church, “The Church must plead for mercy for the mistakes that have been made, and repent.”

Amid powerful praises to God and shouts of victory, the worshippers engaged in intense prayer warfare and intercession, fueled especially by the latest attack in Oyo State, where schoolchildren and teachers were kidnapped and taken into the bush, with two of the teachers reportedly killed by the terrorists.

During the event, the participants observed a break to watch a documentary which showed the response of PFN, Lagos State chapter, to the attacks in parts of the North. Relief materials such as food, clothing, mattresses and many other household items were conveyed in trucks and distributed to some of the victims of the deadly attacks in Benue and Plateau States.

Other ministers who led the worshippers in prayers included Pastors Leke Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Poju Oyemade of The Covenant Nation, Sola Osunmakinde of the Household of David, and Emmanuel Iren of Celebration Church International, all based in Lagos.
