As Nigeria marked its 66th Independence Anniversary on Thursday, October 1, worshippers gathered at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) for the ninth edition of “SheCan Pray 4 Nigeria,” turning the national celebration into an opportunity to seek God for a better Nigeria.

The gathering, themed “Ebenezer, God Our Helper,” brought together Christians from all parts of the city for hours of praise, worship, prayers and testimonies, with a major focus on interceding for the nation.

It provided a platform for participants to lift Nigeria before God, praying for the nation’s future and believing for positive change, especially as the 2027 General Elections approach.

The series of worship and prayer sessions were led by different ministers. K-Leb Shout led the congregation in praise, while Minister Avoseh led an early prayer session. Minister BBO subsequently ministered during the worship session, followed by another prayer session led by Pastor Kayode Yusuf.

Other Gospel ministers, including Tope Alabi, Pastor Daniel Olawande, BeeJay Sax, Sunmisola Agbebi, Pastor Yemi Davies, Pastor Idowu Bolaji, Grace Ofure and Abbey Ojomu also took their turns to minister during the programme.

Worship leaders, Victoria Orenze and Bidemi Olaoba, also led in praise and worship.

One of the highlights of the programme came with the ministration of Nathaniel Bassey, who also led an altar call before officially bringing the programme to an end.

For the participants, Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary was marked, not only as a remembrance of the country’s journey to political and economic freedom, but also as an occasion to pray for the country to become better, stronger and more prosperous.
