Renowned international prophet and author, Cindy Jacobs, has visited Nigeria after more than two decades, leading a National Thanksgiving Worship Service that drew many worshippers and faith leaders to Abuja on Saturday, May 2, 2026.
The event, which held at The Father’s Church, brought together a cross-section of Nigeria’s Christian community in three sessions of intense spiritual engagement that lasted from 10AM to 5PM.
Though organised to thank God and seek His face for the future, the service turned out to be a moment of self-reflection, repentance and bold declaration of God’s governing authority over the territory of Nigeria.
Prominent among the worshippers were a former federal minister and World Bank Vice President for Africa, Oby Ezekwesili, Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, Rev. Sam Oye of the Transforming Church, and another former federal minister, Frank Nweke Jr.
In her message, Pastor Jacobs re-echoed some of her prophetic pronouncements concerning Nigeria and the cardinal role the country has been ordained to play in God’s end-time move in Africa and beyond.
The spiritually influential American preacher, also known for her powerful intercessory prayer and spiritual warfare across nations, carries the prayer burden of breaking down corrupt systems. She maintained that God would establish righteous leaders in the country and intensify Nigeria’s global missionary outreach, a point that was corroborated by her husband, Mike, when he was called to introduce himself. He noted that there’s a vacuum of spiritual leadership in the world and God intends to use Nigeria to fill that vacuum.
Making reference to the challenges Nigeria has grappled with over the years, Jacobs urged Nigerians not to give up hope because the creation of Nigeria and the boundaries within it were predetermined before time.
“We believe that in this generation, there will be a new Nigeria. In this generation, God has a plan,” she said, noting that her own generation is like John the Baptist, preparing the way for a younger generation.
“I have found out in my travels that Satan fights some nations more than others, and that’s always an indicator to me that Satan is afraid of that nation,” she said, adding that, “Nigeria is a great nation, and you have to believe it; you have to believe it in your heart.”
Reading from 2 Chronicles 7:14, Jacobs noted that a land needs healing when it becomes sick, just as humans fall sick and require healing of their bodies.
According to her, many lands have become defiled due to practices that have attracted curses to such lands. In the case of Nigeria, she said idolatory and the shedding of innocent blood have been the root causes of some of the challenges the country has had to grapple with.
She challenged believers in Nigeria to stand up in prayer and put a stop to the mindless killings taking place in the country, especially by terrorists and Jihadists. “We have to say, enough is enough,” she declared.

Later in the afternoon session, another speaker, Sheena Tranter, from Britain, took the worshippers through a solemn moment of repentance on behalf of the British government and people, over slave trade and colonialism, a time that marked some of the darkest periods in human history. Going on her knees, she prayed, repenting of the evil perpetrated by their forefathers in foreign lands in the course of history.
The gathering featured prominent Nigerian gospel ministers, including Adebola Onesi, Tee Worship, and Shola Praise.
The service was also marked by prophetic ministrations, one of which was directed to Governor Otti by Jacobs, who highlighted the governor’s leadership capacity which she said would become a model in the country.
